1.   LMN: How do you feel about the LASERFAIR exhibition and Asia laser forum?

Mr. Weller: Thank you very much for this opportunity and interview. This is the second time for TRUMPF to join this event, and it focuses much on the conference not so much at the exhibition, and the organizer choose very interesting topics, I think the most interesting topic like the 3D printing, ultrafast laser processing, you can see its very attractive for the visitors.

2. LMN: What’s the highlight of the new products Trumpf brings to this event?

Mr. Weller: Our slogan is “The Power of Choice”. We are offering our laser technology from diode laser, micro laser, CO2 laser, and more. We are here on the event to contribute to the forum to have some speeches to the conference and to get in contact with the visitors here and communicate with them about laser solutions, new technologies and we want to share our knowledge. You know 2015 is “the International Year of Light”, and Trumpf has been doing the laser business more than 40 years, and this year we published our book “The Laser as A Tool”, it’s one of the highlights for us here.

3. LMN: What’s the meaning of the publication of this book? We know that it is translated into Chinese version and released on March at the “Laser World of Photonics China 2015”. 
       
       Mr. Weller: This book explains the laser technology on the practical side, meaning how you can use laser as a tool, and driving different application today. We focus on the laser application’s cutting, welding, hardening, construction, processing and that’s the meaning of the book to explain these, and to inspire reader to create more laser application in the future in many fields. Laser is a very new technology and every day comes up new applications, which makes it so attractive for everyone.

4. LMN: We know in April, Trumpf held the “Automotive Week” in Taicang, can you tell us some information about this event?

Mr. Weller: Well, the automotive market is one of the most important market for the laser industry, and of course also for us. Trumpf is the market leader in this industry, with the high power applications wher we have the leading technology with our disk lasers, these are the most robust and the most reliable technology in the field, we held a four-day conference there, with the title “Laser drives mobility”. It’s very successful event. China is the most important automotive market. A lot of visitors come, which shows the importance of laser in the China automotive market. The focus here is on the high power application and the body in wide products, not only the cutting, the hot forming cutting, and the welding, but also the new applications are interesting like using micro processing technology for the preparation of the metal sheet for welding or the application in the e-mobility industry, as well as the more conventional applications like marking or spot welting.
